In 1972, together with the organization of the Tashkent automobile and road construction institute, the faculty of Automobile Transport was also organized, which trained engineers in the specialty “Automobiles and vehicle fleet”. The first Dean was appointed c.t.s, dots. A.M. Bagdasarov (1972…1974). In different years the Faculty was headed by c.t.s, dots. H. M. Yusupaliev (1974…1979),

(2008 … 2010), R.M. Khakimov (2010 … 2016), Z.T. Usmonov (2016 … 2018), PhD, K.Z. Ziyaev (2018…2019), A.G. Ikromov (2019…2020). Since August 2020, B.D. Ibragimov is the Dean of the faculty.
According to the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 26.08.2017 №PD-2580 “On measures to improve training in the field of design, construction and maintenance of automobile roads” the Institute was transformed into the Tashkent Institute of design, construction and maintenance of automobile roads. This Resolution approved the structure and main directions of education, specialties of the Institute.
Based on the approved structure, the faculties “Maintenance of automobile transport”, “Land vehicles”, “Transport and transport communications” were merged and the faculty “Maintenance of automobile transport and transport systems” was organized.
From the 2017-2018 academic year, the faculty was renamed “Maintenance of road construction machines and Automobile transport”.
By decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 04.05.2020 №PD-4703 “On measures to cardinal improve the system of training personnel in the field of transport” was established Tashkent State Transport University, according to the organizational structure of faculties and departments, the faculty was renamed to Engineering of automobile transport.
Many graduates of the faculty currently hold senior positions in the concerns of automobile transport companies and transport management. Among them, the Ministry of transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Committee of Automobile roads and their enterprises, Navoy and Almalyk mining and metallurgical enterprises, dealerships under “Uzavtosanoat” JSC and other private enterprises of large industries. The teaching staff of the faculty constantly and purposefully works to improve the educational process in cooperation with foreign higher education institutions.
Since its establishment, the faculty’s scientists have published more than 100 textbooks and manuals, many guidelines, received more than 500 patents and author’s certificates, and published 100 monographs.
Currently, the faculty has 968 undergraduate students and more than 100 masters.
