History and activity of the faculty
In order to train specialists for steam locomotives in 1931. the first group of students was admitted to the steam locomotive specialty, and in 1932. one group of diesel locomotives, which made it possible to organize a mechanical department, which since 1933. began to be called the Faculty of Mechanics. Taking into account the changes in the profile of personnel training, the faculty, since 1989. was renamed to Electromechanical. And after the institute was reorganized into a university, the faculty became known as “Railway tranport Engineering”.
The faculty includes 3 graduating departments:
Locomotives and locomotive economy (head of the department associate professor I.S. Kamalov)
Vagons and vagon economy (head of the department, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Faizibaev Sh.S.)
Materials science and mechanical engineering (head of the department Ph.D., associate professor Tursunov N.K.)
The faculty maintains close contacts and conducts joint work with many enterprises of JSC “Uzbekiston Temir Yulari”. The faculty staff has established close international scientific ties. Thus, agreements on creative cooperation have been concluded with the Russian University of Transport (RUT MIIT). St. Petersburg State Transport University (PGUPS). All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Rolling Stock OJSC “Russian Railways”, the Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communications (KazATK), the Institute of Mechanics and Seismic Resistance of Structures of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, etc.
The teaching staff of the faculty conducts effective research work, which is carried out by orders of JSC “Uzbekiston temir yulari”, as well as on the basis of various grants. Almost all scientific developments have been introduced into production.
The methodological work of teachers conducting classes at the faculty is aimed at improving the educational process and improving the quality of lectures, seminars and practical classes.
The educational process corresponds to modern trends and meets the requirements for teaching students on the basis of a credit-modular system.
In the process of training, field classes are organized for students at modern and advanced enterprises of the railway company (locomotive depot Uzbekistan, stations Chukursay, Tashkent, Khamza, JSC “Tashkent plant for the construction and repair of passenger cars”, UE “Uzzheldorremmash”, etc.).
An important element in improving the quality of education is the meetings of the students of the faculty with the heads of the Departments, Centers, departments and divisions of JSC “Uzbekiston Temir Yulari”, as well as attracting them and other most qualified specialists from production to conduct training sessions. Among them, special mention should be made of the employees of the Locomotive Operation Department, the Labor Protection and Safety Department, the Economic Analysis and Forecasting Department, the Central Council of the Railway Workers’ Trade Union, etc.
The high qualifications of graduates are evidenced by the fact that many of them work in high management positions. Among them, O.
